Research and ideas for 'Somewhere you can only go in your dreams.'

I only have one idea for this, which is to take a photo of a past time.
The idea I was going to use was when I went to Devon with my mum, dad, sister and nan. My nan passed away and my mum no longer lives with us so I can only ever go back to that time in a dream when we were all together.

I was thinking of putting the photo into a set up place, for example on a fireplace so there is not just the photograph on its own.

An example of how this has been done:

I love how this has been done, and how it's not just the photography, it's got all the army things around it. I think it tells a story, because you can see from first looking at it, that the person is in the army and thats a photo of him/her with their husband/wife.

I found this image on google images.

Research and ideas or 'Somewhere you would be happy to sit all day.'

Places I would be happy to sit all day:

-woods
-cemetery (nans grave)
-at the beach
-on a swing
-on the sofa at home

Woods
I would be happy to sit in the woods all day because I think its a beautiful place, and so calm and peaceful. It is also colourful. I'd  happily sit there all day because no one would in my way, and I'd be on my own. I think its nice to be on your own sometimes where you're just away from everything.
For this idea I would probably take a picture of a bench in the woods.

Cemetery
If I did this idea I would take the picture near my nans grave because I'd be happy to sit there all day because I feel like I am with her. Again this is a peaceful place where you are away from everything.
For this idea I would just take a picture of my nans grave.

At the beach
I would probably go to the beach at lytham for this idea. I'd be happy to sit there all day because it is away from the place I live, and I like getting away just for a little while.
I'd be happy to sit there all and watch everyone go by whilst listening to the sea, again I think this is peaceful and calm.
For this idea I would take a picture on the seafront.

On a swing
I would be happy to sit on a swing all day because it is good fun on a park. It brings good memories back from when I was younger. Again it is away from everything and peaceful if the park is empty.
I like getting away from everything sometimes and just spending time on my own where no one is in my way.
For this idea I would probably just take a picture of a swing on its own.

On the sofa at home
This is a place I would be really happy to sit all day because we have a huge corner sofa and it is so comfy, it would probably be a lazy day. I'd be happy to do this because the sofa is so comfy and I enjoy having lazy days.
For this idea I would probably take a picture of the sofa.

Research and ideas for 'Somewhere you can only go to make wishes.'

Places I would go to make wishes:

-water fountain where people have thrown coins in
-a well

Water fountain
I have chosen this as an idea because it is known to people that some people throw money into a water fountain then make a wish, it is one of those things that always has been said and people actually believe it. Personally I have never done this before but this is a place (if I had to) I would go and make a wish.
For this idea I would take a picture of a fountain in a park, that has money in it.

Well
Again it is said that people throw money down a well and make a wish, not knowing if it will come true, it is just one of those things that has been said for a long time.
This also would be a place I would go and make a wish if I had to.
For this idea I would find a well and just take a picture either of the whole thing, or looking down it.

Research and ideas for 'If you had to leave your heart somewhere, where would it be?'

Places I would leave my heart:

-someones hands
-cemetery
-in the woods

Someones hands
By someones hands, I would choose someone that I am close to, for example. my mum or dad, sister, brother or boyfriend.
I would pick one of these people because they are the people I love and my heart belongs to them.
For this idea, I was thinking of getting a heart from a butchers and taking a picture of it in one of the persons hands.

Cemetery
I have chose the cemetery as an idea for somewhere i'd leave my heart because I think its a peaceful place and would love to leave it there. I would take a picture of near my nans grave because I'd be leaving it with her.
For this idea I would probably just take a picture of the cemetery, and maybe edit a picture of a heart into the image somehow so that it is apart of manipulation.

In the woods
I would leave my heart in the woods because it is a place where I like to go and I think it's beautiful. I think the woods are so peaceful and therefore I would like to leave my heart there.
For this idea I would either leave it in with loads of leaves or on a bench.

Photoshop task

For this task we had to use the marquee tool and select half the picture, then press 'cmd j' to make it into a new layer. We then had to go on 'edit' 'transform' then 'flip horizontal'.
We then lined up the pictures to make it symmetrical, these two picture were the outcomes.

Research and ideas for 'if you had to leave your nose somewhere, where would it be?'

Places I would leave my nose:

-perfume shop
-bakery
-petrol station

Perfume shop
I would leave my nose in a perfume shop because I love the smell of perfume, if I was to take a picture in a perfume shop then I'd take a picture of the perfume I like the best.
I like this idea because I think it's nice to smell good so that's why I would leave my nose in a perfume shop because it always smells good.

Bakery
I would leave my nose in a bakery only because I like the smell of freshly baked bread, so it would have to be somewhere that has fresh bread. My ideas for this would be taking a picture of the bread on a shelf.

Petrol Station
This is a bit of a weird place to leave my nose if I could, but I love the smell of petrol. I don't know if many people do, and I know it sounds weird, but if I could then this would be an idea to leave my nose.

Research and ideas for 'somewhere you really shouldn't go'

Places I think you shouldn't go:

-railway tracks
-abandoned/derelict buildings
-building sites
-electrical areas

Railway tracks
It is dangerous to go onto railway tracks for obvious reasons of getting run over by a train, so this is why I think this is a place you shouldn't really go. It is also illegal and is trespassing.

Abandoned buildings
Again it could be dangerous to go into abandoned or derelict buildings, and also illegal. If they are unsafe and at risk of falling down. I think this is a place where you shouldn't really go because you could get hurt.

Building sites
You shouldn't enter a building site whilst there is building work going on, because you could get hurt. It is also trespassing if you go onto a building site after hours.
Again I think this is a place you shouldn't go because you could get hurt.

Electrical areas
For this I mean high voltage areas near pylons etc. I don't think this is a place you should go because you could get seriously hurt.

All my ideas are the types of places that are dangerous and places you could get hurt. I think these go well for this sentence because you shouldn't go to those places for the reasons of getting hurt and for legal reasons.
I also like these ideas because I like the idea you shouldn't really go there but we have to, to take the photo.
I won't go to the extremes of breaking laws, but I will take a picture that shows one of these places.

Examples of these places:

train track

abandoned/derelict buildings

building sites

electrical areas

Highest scoring.

'The photographer you scored the highest from that list, highlight the techniques they use and discuss how this manipulation effects the final outcome of their work.'

The photographer I scored the highest was:
Christopher Gilbert
http://www.christophegilbert.com

The main technique used in both of the images I chose from Christopher Gilberts work seemed to be changing people from life size to a lot smaller so that they can be manipulated into another image.
This helped the final outcome because it made it look realistic and like nothing you have ever seen before.

For example:

In this picture that I chose using the people within the liquid makes it unique and perfects for advertising. I believe this is a good advertisement for 'martini' because of the way the people have been manipulated into the image and how they are dancing like they would on a night out.

Photo Manipulation

I am unsure of the artist.
http://alfoart.com/
I found these images by searching photo manipulators on google, then found the link above.
I picked this image out because it was the one I liked the best.
The first image is before then the second after the manipulation.
I like how the flowers that were originally in the background have been blurred and the background darkened so that the main focus is the flowers that are going to be manipulated.
I love how the colours match so well, and how realistic it looks. Its almost like when you say 'the flowers are bursting with colour' but now they are actually bursting with colour.
I like this image because of how the liquid exaggerates the colours of the flowers and makes them stand out more.

I rate this a 5 out of 10 because although it looks realistic, its probably not the best photo manipulation and isn't great compared to the others I have chosen.

Photo Manipulation

Christopher Gilbert
http://www.christophegilbert.com
I found this website from searching 'photo manipulators' on google. I looked through the photographs on the website then chose these two images for my research.
I chose the first image because when I first looked at it I though it was the liquid coming out of the bottle, but then when I looked again I realised that there are people within the drink. This fascinated me because I was shocked at how I didn't noticed and how well this has been made to look like the liquid. I then zoomed into the image, and you can see that the people in it are actually partying, like they would when they are out.
This is a good advertisement for the drink, because people drink alcohol when they go out and could drink the 'martini'.
I like the colours of what the people are wearing so that it is a close match to the colour of the drink, I think this has helped manipulate the image so that it blends in more.

I chose the second image because I like the size differences used. You would never get a human being that big stood on another human who is a million times bigger than them.
I like the way they have used the ear to look like a cave, and have the two people stood guarding it with the poles. Again this looks very realistic because of how well the people have been positioned and the bottom of the ear to look like the entrance of a cave.
I like how the hair is still on the face, it looks like grass and vegetation.

I rate this a 9 out of 10, because I personally like these images and I like how the people have been made smaller to fit into the image and look real.

Photo Manipulation

Jan Oliehoek
http://www.janoliehoek.com/
I found this artist by searching for photo manipulations on google. I looked through the images on the link above and chose these two for my research because I liked them the best.
The first image was originally by Marcus J. Ranum. then manipulated by Jan Olihoek. It is called 'Handgun'
I chose because I like how realistic this is, when I first looked at this, it actually made me cringe. I like the whole idea of the hand being shaped like a gun and the top of the finger representing the bullet.
The 'fluid' coming out of the finger looks like it's supposed to be the smoke like you would get on a gun.
I think this is a good photo manipulation because it looks so realistic but this would never happen.

The second image is called 'Candle Fish'
I chose this image because you can never have a flame under water, and to have it on top of a fish is not realistic. This is why I chose it, because of how real it looks.
I also like the way the flame is reflecting light onto the other fish and things around it, this helps to make it looks more real because if this wasn't there then it wouldn't give it a good effect.

I rate this work 8 out of 10 again because of how realistic the images look, and how unique they are. Both of these images would never happen in real life, but they have been manipulated to look like they would.
