Task, somewhere colourful

I chose these pictures for my research because the leaves and the lights are very colourful. These are the types of places I would go and take pictures for somewhere colourful.
This isn't one of my six sentences but if it was then I would chose a place like this to take my pictures.

Liquify

This was a task that we had to do in college. We were learning about photoshop and how to use the liquify tools.
We were experimenting with the bloat, shrink, freeze and thaw tools.
I decided to make all my facial features bigger by using the bloat tool. My hair stayed the same because I used the freeze and thaw tools, the freeze tool lets you select the parts of the image that you want to stay the same, then one you have made the change you use the thaw tool to deselect the section.

photo manipulation

I chose these two images for my research because I like how they have been manipulated.
In the first image I like how the arm has been made to look like bark of the plant, the surface of the arm looks rough as if the skin is peeling, but is made to look like the bark. This is something that you would never see and it has been made to look real.
Even the leaves are coming out of the arm like they would on a plant.
I also like how the hand is positioned, like the fingers are branching off as leaves would do on a plant.
I like the veins on the hand and how they are not what you can see on your hand, but how they have been made to look how they would on a leaf to give it more effect.

I chose the second image because I like how it's been made to look like he's pulling the road and making his own path. To me it looks like he's walking through a quiet place where the road isn't supposed to be because he's walking through vegetation and pulling it over.
I think this has been done by using a sheet and has been blended into the road.

I rate this work an 8 out of 10 because of how realistic the pictures look. They are very unique.

image manipulation

I chose this image for my research because I like how the image goes from looking quite soft and innocent to an evil looking image. The change in colour from light to dark gives this a more scary effect, but the eyes are the main focal point in the change because they have brightened the white part of the eye and made the rest darker.
I score this image a 6 out of 10 because I like the drastic change from normal to quite evil.

Sentences I have chosen

These are the words I have chosen out of the list because I find them more interesting than the others.

Somewhere you can only go in your dreams.
Somewhere you would be happy to sit all day.
Somewhere you can only go to make wishes.
If you had to leave your heart somewhere, where would it be?
If you had to leave your nose somewhere where would it be?
Somewhere you really shouldn’t go.

This is where we experimented with the filters on the camera. Using red and green.
The red filter made the picture look better, whereas the green filter made everything stand out more.
For example, someone with spots. The spots would stand out a lot more using the green filter than they would on the red filter.

30 second challenge.

A classroom was set up with a model and props, we had no idea what was in there until we walked in the room, and from that point had to take pictures within the 30 second time limit.
This was to show us that sometimes in photography you have to do things like this and you have to use what you have got straight away and make the most of it.
Most people in the class had finished before 15 seconds, very few directed the model, but most felt rushed and just threw a prop at the model and took the pictures.
I liked this task, it showed me that sometimes you have to produce a good picture without a large amount of time, it also taught me to give the model more direction and use the time as well as I can instead of rushing.
The 30 seconds actually felt a lot longer than I thought it was going to be.

Final images.

Again in this image, I put two images together. I did this so I could show more movement from the slow shutter speed image and the fast shutter speed image. The image that is faded and more blurred shows a lot of movement because you can see where they have travelled from and to.
I changed the black and white image to make more stand out.

I chose this image for movement, because they are playing football and you can see from the way people are that they are moving. I like this photograph because of this, for example, how the people are leaning.

I chose this image because you can see from the water and the feather on the bird that there is movement in the image. I like the waves, and the ripples in the water.

I chose this because I see it as a different type of movement because it's using light. I like it because the curve of the light and the shape that's been made is like a wave, and also the colour is like a wave too.

Again this is a different type of movement because it is still but you can see that he is midway through a jump, and this represents the movement that's happening.

For this image, I blended two seperate images to make one. One image was used on a slow shutter speed whilst the other on a faster shutter speed.
I dragged one image over the other and used the overlay tool, I then masked the layers so that I could then use the brush tool to erase any parts that I didn't need.
I then made the image black and white so that you can see the blurred parts. I added the slow shutter speed picture because it shows more movement.

Final image. 1

Dancing images.

For these pictures I used a shutter speed of 1/30, F5 and an ISO of 100. Even though I used a faster shutter speed than the previous images you can still see that there is movement from in the blurred parts of the image.

Other movement images.

I took these pictures by the road. The second I edited in the man again to show more movement.
I am not going to use these as my final images because they are too blury and I would prefer it if the background wasn't blury and just what was moving was.
Next time I do this I will use a tripod and time the pictures better.

Movement graphics.

I took these pictures using an exposure of 1/2, F14 and an ISO of 400.
I used a slow shutter speed because it shows the movement of the dancers better than if it was a still picture.

Movement research

I chose this image for my research because it looks like all the lines are moving around when they are actually not. This is movement in graphics, everything in the image looks still apart from the swirls.
You could take an image like this in photography by using light art for the swirls.

I chose this for my research because it is a time of movement which has been done through using paint. It's like its trying to represent the movement of water. I think this because of the colours used and the way the brushstrokes have been made.
This shows that movement can come across in not only a photograph but in a painting as well.

Panning

Experimenting.
I had my camera set on an ISO of 400, shutter speed 1/8, and F.3.5
This was experiment work, and shows that only one thing is supposed to be in focus whilst the background is blurred.

Studio work.

Using the flash and the reflector.

For these pictures I had my ISO set to 800, shutter speed on 1/160.
We then used the gold reflector to shine the light from the flash on to the side that there was none.
In the first image you can see the gold shine on his face.
-I like the second image because his face is equal and I like the lighting.

Studio work.

Ambient lighting, using the beauty lamp

We used the beauty lamp and positioned it so that it was pointing down on the subject. I had my camera set on a high ISO, on monochrome. I like the way this makes the picture look and how only one side of the subject is lit up.

This was taken using the diffuser. This can be used on a sunny day outside when you are shooting portrait pictures.

Experiment with taking the beauty shade off the studio light. This shows a bad quality, it makes the picture too bright and not as soft.
